This is the fifth share portfolio update on the path to achieving a $1 million dollar portfolio. Investment has been low this month as I study and work on a practical placement with the university studies. Secondly, building on the portfolio from April 2021, I have invested a small amount of $500 into my Pearler Account in ETFs and a small parcel of Cryptocurrency. This month I focused on learning the world of Affiliate Marketing and extending my knowledge about Cryptocurrency. Moreover, I have written a review on Binance an online Cryptocurrency trading platform. Affiliate Marketing is an aspect that is highly relevant to publishing content via website or blog. The need to monetise a site is a hurdle faced by many bloggers starting out wanting to gain exposure in the marketplace.
The other objective was to provide more information about investing in a Family Trust. I detailed the pros and cons of using a family trust here. With any structuring or financial decision, it is best to first do your own research or speak to a qualified professional for the right advice. Unfortunately, I will not reach my initial goal of an overall portfolio value of $20,000 by June 2021. However, with the balance currency being $16,500 across the Pearler and Superhero platforms I am to reach $18,000. This will be the new more realistic target to reach by the end of the financial year.
The Superhero portfolio has taken a flat line position this month. A slowdown in the performance in growth shares and rotation towards value shares has impacted the performance of the portfolio. Furthermore, I have not invested much in the portfolio due to the time being spent upskilling with university studies. Hopefully, investing in myself now will be more financially beneficial later down the track.
I have continued to prioritise the investment into ETFs with Pearler given the lack of performance of growth shares. This will provide some stability and consistency across the portfolio. I have chosen to continue to invest in Vanguard VAS as I enjoy getting a quarterly distribution that is franked. The target goal is to reach a portfolio value of $100,000 in 5 years. A long term goal that is SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely) can be a great motivator to kickstart your investing journey. This can be set at any value making it a personal challenge and a sense of growth and accountability.
I dabbled in Cryptocurrency this month acquiring a small parcel of digital currency in Ethereum and Ripple. This is the first time I have invested in Cryptocurrency and am discovering a new way to earn passive income. To learn more about Cryptocurrency trading platforms have a read of my Binance Review. Alternatively, you can sign up to try for yourself here.
Next month, I will still aim to surpass the $18,000 mark. This will be a hard but realistic monthly target as continuing to readjust goals is an important step to moving forward. I would like to invest in another stable share that will provide long term dividends as I enjoy receiving the income that can be reinvested for long term capital growth.
